Former SP Babul denied bail again

A court in Chattogram rejected again the bail petition of former police superintendent Babul Akhtar, the prime accused in a case filed over the murder of his wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu.

Metropolitan Magistrate Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahman passed the order on Tuesday noon (January 25).

Md Fakhruddin Chowdhury, Public Prosecutor (PP) of the court confirmed the matter.

The court sources said, a bail petition was made on behalf of the accused on Monday. Later, the court rejected the petition after hearing.

On June 5, 2016, assailants stabbed and shot Mitu dead when she was taking her son to his school bus stop at GEC intersection in the port city.
