High Court scraps Samrat’s bail

The High Court has cancelled bail granted to expelled Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The court also ordered him to surrender to the trial court within seven days.

The bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo passed the order after hearing on an appeal petition on Wednesday.

Earlier on May 11, the Judge of the Special Judge Court-6 of Dhaka, Al Asad Md Asifuzzaman, granted bail to Samrat in the ACC case.

On November 12 of 2019, the ACC filed the case against Samrat with its Integrated District office-1 of Dhaka for amassing an illegal wealth of Tk 2.94 crore.
