Steps if any chaos is made in name of Gono Commission: Home Minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that steps would be taken in any chaos is made in name of Gono Commission. The Gono Commission, a body coordinated by Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, to probe radical and communal terrorism has no legal ground.

In reply to a query, he told this to the reporters after 27th Annual Conference of Lions Clubs International at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital on Friday (May 20).

Home Boss said, “The Gono Commission has recently published a book titled ‘2000 Days of Radical Communal Terrorism in Bangladesh’. I do not know what is written in it. We have not yet seen those in whose name they are blaming terrorism or corruption. So I canot say anything about it. However, I have recently heard that a list of 116 religious speakers has been submitted to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) by the Gono Commission. I do not know anything else. I will be able to find out more about this later.”

In reply to another question, he said, “If anyone uses my name to extort money, the law enforcement will take strict action. The government is pursuing a zero tolerance policy on extortion, terrorism and drugs.”
