SK Sinha’s house in US: Report on August 3

A Dhaka court on Wednesday (May 25) set August 3 for submitting a probe report in a case filed against former Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, popularly known as SK Sinha, and his brother Ananta Kumar Sinha over allegedly owning a three-storied house in the United States bought through laundered money.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Qayesh fixed the new date as the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) could not submit the report today.

Earlier on March 31, the ACC filed the case under the money laundering prevention act and anti-corruption act. 

Ananta bought the house for his brother at a cost of around Tk 2.40 crore. As the ACC couldn’t identify any legal source of the money paid for the home, it believes that the money was earned illegally or laundered abroad, according to the case documents.
