Per capita income to reach USD 3,007

The country’s average per capita income would reach USD 3,007 in the 2022-23 fiscal year.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal revealed the information while presenting the proposed budget for FY23 at the National Parliament on Thursday (June 9) afternoon.

He said only in the FY20, the economic growth was hampered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the new base year, a record 7.88 percent growth was achieved in FY19, but in the following year, FY20, it decreased to 3.45 percent due to the pandemic.

The next possible budget size of Taka 6,78,064 crore is around 15.3 percent of GDP and also will be Taka 74,383 crore higher than the original budget size of the outgoing fiscal year (FY22) which was Taka 6,03,681 crore. The original budget size of the outgoing fiscal year was around 17.5 percent of GDP.
