Pakistan High Commission Dhaka holds exhibition

High Commission for Pakistan, Dhaka organized an exhibition to showcase art, crafts and cuisines as well as coffee table books on Pakistan at the Pakistan House, Dhaka, Bangladesh on Saturday.

Aimed at displaying the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Pakistan, the event was part of the diamond jubilee celebrations of Pakistan.

It was attended by a large number of artists, academics, arts enthusiasts, members of civil society, representatives of diplomatic corps and local journalists.

Pakistan's High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Imran Ahmed Siddiqui inaugurated the exhibition and remarked that Pakistan had a rich and diverse cultural heritage. Young artists of Pakistan are enriching ancient traditions with their innovative art and craft blending ancient with the modern.

The exhibits included 40 pieces of Arabic calligraphy by renowned Pakistani calligraphers including the Chief Calligrapher of the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah Munawwarah Ustad Shafiquz Zamman, landscape paintings, replicas of representative sculpture of Indus Valley civilization and Gandhara and over 50 books highlighting the history, cultural heritage, diverse cuisines, tourist attractions, landscape beauty and birds of Pakistan.

The High Commissioner presented Bangla version of calligraphy booklet to all the participants which included art pieces by renowned calligraphists of Pakistan including the chief calligrapher of Prophet (PBUD)’s Mosque.

The exhibition was followed by traditional Pakistani cuisines.

The participants appreciated the event and greatly admired the work of Pakistani artists on display. They urged closer connections between the two countries to jointly promote art and crafts.
