Padma Bridge: Lifting ban from motorcycle unlikely before Eid

The Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam said that there is no possibility to allow motorcycles to ply on Padma Bridge ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha, the second biggest religious festival of Muslims.
He told this to the reporters after the cabinet meeting on Sunday (July 3).
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina virtually joined the cabinet meeting from her official Gonobhabon residence and other ministers from the conference room of the cabinet division at the secretariat. PM chaired the meeting.
Khandker Anwarul Islam said, “Strict monitoring will be made so that nobody can walk after stopping vehicle on the Padma Bridge. There is no scope for people to walk on the bridge. No footpath has been kept there.
Earlier, the government imposed a ban on motorcycle movement on the Padma Bridge from June 27 until the further notice.
