Govt imposes restriction on illumination

The government has banned illuminating social events, community centres, shopping malls, shops, offices, courts and homes for decorative purposes across the country.

Field Administration Branch of Public Relations of the Cabinet Division has issued a notification in this regard on Thursday (7 July).

The decision was taken to save electricity following global energy crisis due to Russia-Ukraine war.

Earlier on July 6, the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged countrymen to avoid special decorative lighting to save electricity.
