Driver jailed for crash that killed cop in Dhaka

A Dhaka court on Thursday sent Bikash Paribahan bus driver Sujan to jail over Wednesday’s killing of an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in a road accident in the capital’s Mohakhali area.

Judge Syed Mostafa Reza Nur of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court passed the order on Thursday (August 4).

Banani police sub-inspector and also investigative officer of the case, Shaheen Alam produced the bus driver before the court and filed a petition to keep him in jail for the sake of investigation.

According to the Banani police station officials, a Bikash Paribahan bus came at a reckless speed and hit the ASI Alamgir Hossain from behind near Mohakhali flyover, injured him seriously.

Later, he was rushed to Rajarbagh Police Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
