Fuel price hiked to protect BPC from loss: Nasrul

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has said the government has taken the decision to hike fuel price in a bid to protect Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) from incurring loss.
The state minister said this to media on Saturday morning.
The government has re-fixed the price of fuel oil through adjusting the price of refined and imported/purchased diesel, kerosine, octane and petrol at the consumer level considering the uptrend of fuel oil price in global market under the current world situation.
Diesel price has been increased by Tk 34 to Tk 114 per litre while octane price hiked by Tk 46 to Tk 135 and petrol by Tk 44 to Tk 130.
The price became effective from Friday midnight.
