Dollar price instability: Treasury chiefs of 6 banks being removed

Bangladesh Bank has ordered six banks to remove their treasury chiefs for their involvement in raising the price of the US dollar by hoarding more greenbacks than necessary.

The central bank sent letters on August 8 to take actions against the officials.

The banks are Standard Chartered Bangladesh, BRAC Bank, Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd, The City Bank, Southeast Bank and Prime Bank.

They made an extra profit through the treasury operation, central bank spokesman Serajul Islam said.
