Launch fares hiked by 30%

After the increase in the fares of public transports and lighter vessels, the authorities have raised launch fares by 30 percent following a hike in fuel prices.

This was confirmed in a press release issued from the Ministry of Shipping on Tuesday (August 16).

The decision will come into effect from today, the release said.

According to the press release, the new rate has been set at Tk 3, up from Tk 2.30 for per kilometre travelled within a distance of 100 kilometres. After 100 kilometres, the fare will be Tk 2.60, up from Tk 2. The minimum fare has been raised by Tk 8 to Tk 33 from Tk 25.
