Ferry fare hiked by 20pc

The government has hiked fares for ferry services and passenger vessels under Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation by 20 per cent in the wake of hike in fuel prices.

The fares would become effective from Wednesday (August 17), said a press release issued by the corporation on Thursday evening (August 16).

BIWTC Chairman Shamim Al Razi confirmed the matter.

Earlier on June 16, Bangladesh inland Water Transport Corporation had increased the fare for its passenger ships and ferry services by 20 per cent citing the same reasons.
