Russia offers fuel import, now Bangladesh has to decide

Russian ambassador to Dhaka Aleksandr Mantytsky has said that Russia has offered Bangladesh to import crude and refined fuel oils. However, Bangladesh has to take the decision in this case. Discussions are going on between the two countries.

He said this at a round table discussion at the Russian Embassy in Dhaka on Wednesday (August 24).

The Russian ambassador to Dhaka came up with replies to various questions during the discussion organized on six-month of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine.

Aleksandr Mantytsky said, “We are concerned about the global food crisis. That is why Russia has taken initiatives to keep the food supply normal from Ukraine. Russia is not responsible for the global economic crisis. Because Russia has not imposed any kind of economic sanctions, Europe and the United States have imposed sanctions. That’s why you cannot blame Russia for this crisis.”

In response to another question, the Russian ambassador said that Moscow has no intention of using nuclear weapons in Ukraine.

He further said talks are going on with Bangladesh on the issue of food import from Russia. Russia will help in food security.

In reply to another question, the Russian ambassador said discussions are going on with the Central Bank of Russia and Bangladesh regarding financial transactions. They will decide on this.

When asked whether Russia’s Energy Company Gazprom will help in oil and gas exploration in Bangladesh, he said, Bangladesh has to decide in this case.

In response to a question about the war in Ukraine, the ambassador said the West has sustained this war by providing military support to Ukraine.
