Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to fly for India on a four-day official visit on Monday (September 5).

Seven Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) are likely to be signed between Bangladesh and India during her visit. Besides, there may be positive progress in settling bilateral outstanding issues. Alongside, fresh bilateral initiatives of mutual interest will be undertaken during the visit.

Foreign Affairs Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said this in a press briefing on PM’s visit at the Foreign Ministry on Sunday (September 4).

He said, “Bangladesh-India relations have reached a special height. For the sake of this good relationship, we have set a historical precedent of peacefully resolving issues such as land and water boundaries. Apart from this, various bilateral issues have also been resolved through mutual understandings.”

The Prime Minister earlier visited India in October 2019. She participated in a virtual summit with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In 2021, the then President of India Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bangladesh to attend the Mujib Year celebrations.
