Registration of Impulse Hospital’s MD suspended

Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) has suspended the registration of Professor Dr. Ali Zahir Al-Amin, the Managing Director (MD) of Impulse Medical Services and Research Center at Tejgaon in the capital, for one-year period bringing an allegation of providing wrong treatment and showing negligence to the patients.

Prof Dr. Ali Zahir (BMDC Reg. No. A-12688), is also a senior Physician and ENT & Head Neck-Surgery specialist.

A suspension letter, signed by acting registrar of BMDC, Dr. Md. Liaqat Hossain, confirmed the information on Saturday (November 19).

Dr. Zahir Al Amin has performed a wrong operation of his patient Mrs. Momena Haque Mun, 38. Instead of operating the ailing left ear, the operation was performed in right ear that caused huge suffering for the patient, according to the letter.

The letter further alleged of providing wrong information to the attendants and guardians of the patients by the hospital staff.

Later, Momena Haque’s husband Ziaur Rahman Bhuiya filed a complaint with BMDC. Following the complaint, BMDC sought explanation from Prof. Zahir. Accordingly, he submitted a detailed written explanation to the BMDC on October 31.

But the BMDC found that the explanation was not satisfactory and finally it issued letter to Dr. Zahir Al-Amin suspending his registration for one year.
