BGB, BGP to conduct joint patrol along border

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Guard Police (BGP) of Myanmar have agreed to conduct joint patrol along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border.

Major General Shakil Ahmed, Director General (DG) of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) said this while addressing reporters at Pilkhana in the capital on Tuesday (November 29).

He said that illegal activities of separatists were seen along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border. Chaos was being created due to the activities of internal separatist activities in Myanmar. We have focused on the issue at the border conference. BGB and BGP will jointly monitor the border areas to prevent separatist activities on the border.

The five-day-long 8th Senior Level Border Conference between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) ended today with the signing of Joint Records of Discussion (JRD). A 10-member Bangladesh delegation led by BGB Director General participated in this border conference.

Besides, the Myanmar Delegation comprised of 15 members from Border Guard Police (MPF), Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Immigration and Population and Department of General Administration was led by Police Major General Aung Naing Thu, Deputy Chief of Myanmar Police Force (MPF).
