‘Decision on power price hike at customer level after verification`

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has said Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) will take any decision on power price hike at the customer level after verification.
The state minister said this while briefing journalists after visiting different areas including Tejgaon area under DPDC on Thursday.
About the load shedding, Nasrul Hamid said discussions are going on with various countries including Brunei, Qatar and Saudi Arabia to increase fuel supply. The government is also trying to reduce load shedding from the next year.
He also said, “We also think load shedding will be at a tolerable level. But there is no reason to avoid the impact of the global economic recession. In spite of this, we will try our best to reduce the sufferings of the public”.
Most of the power distribution systems of the capital will be taken under ground. Within the next two to three years, the power distribution system of the capital’s Dhanmondi will be completely taken under ground. And within five to six years, a large part of Dhaka's electricity distribution system will be taken under ground.
