A Dhaka court fixed December 15 for holding hearing on charge framing in two cases, one for observing fake birthday on National Mourning Day and another for stigmatizing the War of Liberation, lodged against BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
The hearing date was fixed today (December 1) in the two cases. But Khaleda Zia could not appear before the court due to her illness. That’s why the BNP chief’s lawyer Masud Ahmed Talukder filed a plea seeking more time. Later, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor fixed the new date.
Earlier on August 2016, Dhaka Journalist Union’s former joint general secretary Gazi Jahirul Islam filed a case against Khaleda Zia for observing a fake birthday.
According to the complainant, Khaleda from 1996 was celebrating her fake birthday on August 15, the day when Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was martyred along with most of his family members. She is doing this on purpose only to dishonour the Father of the Nation.
Bangladesh Jananetri Parishad president AB Siddiqui filed the other case on November 3, 2016, against Khaleda Zia for stigmatizing the War of Liberation by rehabilitating anti- Liberation War elements.
