IGP hopes BNP will withdraw Nayapaltan decision

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun has expressed his hope that BNP will withdraw its decision to hold the 10 December rally in Nayapaltan.

The police boss said this while talking to journalists after attending a programme at the Rajarbagh Police Line in the capital on Saturday.

“There is no information of violence centering the BNP’s December 10 rally. But considering all aspects, we will ensure security. Besides, I hope BNP will come back from its Nayapaltan decision”, he said.

Holing a public rally is a democratic right and considering this, police has given an approval to BNP to hold its December 10 rally at Suhrawardy Udyan. But they are taking preparations to hold the rally in front of its office at Nayapaltan which may trigger traffic congestion and public sufferings.
