Managing Director (MD) Taksim Ahmed Khan of Dhaka Water Supply And Sewerage Authority (WASA) said the news published under the title ‘14 houses in the United States of WASA MD Taksim’ is baseless. He complained of defamation in the context of the news.

He filed a defamation complaint in this regard to Bangladesh Press Council Chairman Justice Md Nizamul Huq Nasim on Monday (January 30).

According to the complaint, Taksim Ahmed Khan claimed that the news published in Dainik Samakal newspaper on January 9 under the title ‘WASA’s Taksim has 14 houses in the United States’ is untrue. Fictitious information was provided and attempted for social blackmail.

Although a protest was sent to the editor and publisher of the concerned newspaper against the news, it was not printed. This proves that such news was purposefully published. In the light of Section 12 of the Press Council Act, 1974, I am praying for steps in this matter.

Taksim lawyer Syed Mahsib Hossain confirmed about the complaint. He said, we informed the Press Council before seeking recompence elsewhere. Hope to get a remedy. Our protest was not printed. They should have published our protest. As a lawyer, I think we will get our fair share of justice here through the complaint.

Later, the managing director of WASA said it is a completely false news. This is against the ethics of the journalism. I’m fine myself. This news is made to make me feel bad. So, I filed a complaint to the Press Council seeking redressal. I made this complaint to clean up my position.
