Gazette issued to extend Khaleda’s jail term suspension

A gazette notification has been issued to extend the jail term suspension period of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia by another six months.
The Security Service Department of the Home Ministry has issued the gazette notification recently.
Joint Secretary of Service Department Md Ziaul Haque confirmed the news on Monday.
According to the gazette notification, the extension will come into effect from September 25 as the tenure of the previous seventh extension will expire on September 24.
An application was sent to the law ministry for opinion. Later, the law ministry sent back the application with its nod to home ministry for issuance of gazette in this regard on September 10.
Khaleda Zia, the former Prime Minister, has been suffering from various ailments, including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, kidney, lung, heart and eye problems.
Now hospitalised due to critical illness, Khaleda has stayed out of jail since long following suspension of sentence in Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust graft cases.
