Samrat granted bail in ACC case; No obstacle to release

A Dhaka court has granted bail to suspended Juba League leader Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat in another case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for amassing illegal wealth.

Judge Al Asad Md Asifuzzaman of Dhaka Special Judge Court-6 granted the bail on Wednesday.

Samrat’s lawyer Mahbubul Alam Dulal said earlier Samrat got bail in three cases-arms, money laundering and drug cases. With this he has got bail in all four cases, and there is now no obstruction to release him.

RAB arrested Samrat on 14 October of 2019 from Chouddogram in Cumilla for his engagement in the casino business.  

ACC Deputy Director Jahangir Alam filed a case against Samrat on 12 November the same year, for amassing wealth by unlawful business means and other activities.
