Int’l Mother Language Day celebrated in RCSC

From February 21 to 23, the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Dhaka hosted a series of meetings dedicated to the International Mother Language Day.

A webinar was held in memory of Dhaka University students who died for the right to recognize Bengali as the state language on February 21.

Many people joined the discussion among them the RCSC’ Head Maxim Dobrokhotov, Russian language teacher Yasmin Sultana, professor of Jahangirnagar University History Department Dr. Taibul Hasan Khan, Russian language courses’ students, media and NGO representatives, as well as students from various universities of Dhaka.

Besides, a children's drawings competition was held on February 22 (The language of my country).

On the last day of the program, a wrap-up meeting took place at the RCSC auditorium, attended by Professor of Theater and Performance Studies, University of Dhaka Dr. Israfil Shaheen, and drama actress Sonia Hasan as the main speakers.

The participants noted that languages represent an important tool for the preservation and development of material and spiritual heritage, do contribute to cultural diversity and promote unique humanitarian exchanges.
