A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed on a 3-day remand in two cases filed with Paltan Police Station in connection with April 1 violence in the city.
Metropolitan Magistrate Harun-ar-Rashid passed the order when investigation officer (IO) Shyamol Devnath produced him before the court at about 2 pm seeking 10-day remand.
On the other hand, his lawyer Sanaullah Miah submitted a petition seeking bail.
After hearing, the court granted 3-day remand rejecting the bail petition.
Police arrested Salahuddin Ahmed in the city’s Gulshan area around 9.50 pm on Monday on charge of torching vehicle and obstructing police in performing duties.
