BNP candidate demands cancellation of Pabna-4 by-polls

BNP candidate for Pabna-4 by-polls Habibur Rahman Habib has demanded the cancellation of the ongoing polls.
Mentioning many irregularities, at a press conference around 12.00pm on Saturday, Habib said people’s opinion is not being reflected in the polls.
Voting in the by-polls to Pabna-4 constituency began at 9.00am and will continue till 5.00pm.
Three candidates, including from the Awami League and the BNP, are contesting the by-polls to this parliamentary seat, which fell vacant after the death of AL lawmaker and former minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif Dilu on April 2.
According to EC sources, the Pabna-4 constituency consists of two upazilas (Ishwardi and Atgharia), two municipalities and 12 unions.
There are 84 polling stations in the constituency and the total number of voters is 3 lakh 81 thousand 112.
Of these, 1 lakh 91 thousand 697 are male voters and 1 lakh 89 thousand 415 are female voters.
