BNP behind arson attacks to destabilise country: Hasan

Information Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud has alleged that BNP is behind the incidents of setting buses on fire at separate places in the capital as part of their plot to destabilise the country.

The minister came up with the allegation at a press conference held at his official residence in the city on Friday.

“BNP has been malpracticing in politics for a long time. Thursday’s fire incidents are just another manifestation. They are trying to create chaos by pushing the country towards anarchy through arson,” he said.

In 2014 and 2015, BNP and its ally Jamaat-e-Islami unleashed a reign of vandalism and arson and carried out subversive acts, killing many people. Thursday’s fire incidents were similar to the incidents, Hasan Mahmud said.
