`Secret meeting`: 7 Hefazat members held in N’ganj

Police on Thursday (April 8) claimed to have detained as many as seven activists of Hefazat-e-Islam for holding a secret meeting at a house in a madrasa in Sonargaon of Narayanganj.
Confirming the matter, Narayanganj police super Jayedul Alam said, acting on secret information, police conducted a drive in the madrasa this evening and detained them. All of them are Hefazat activists.
Earlier on April 3, local people gheraoed Hefazat’s joint secretary general Mamunul Haque along with a woman whom he claimed his wife at 'Royal Resort' in Sonargaon upazila. Later, leaders and activists of the party blocked roads protesting the incident.
On April 7, 83 people, including Mamunul Haque, have been named in two separate cases filed over the attacks on police, and vandalizm in the resort in Sonargaon.
