Zia’s name will remain as traitor in country’s history: Info Minister

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said that BNP founder Ziaur Rahman’s name will remain as a traitor and a killer in the country’s history.

The minister said this while addressing a program at Sheikh Russel Roller Skating Complex in the capital on Friday (October 8).

Children and women were not killed in Karbala Maidan. But, the killers didn’t spared even minors and pregnant women on August 15, 1975. Not only child Sheikh Russel but also four-year-old Sukanto Babu, 12-year-old Baby Serniabat, 14-year-old Arif Serniabat and pregnant Arju Moni were killed.

Information Minister said, when Ziaur Rahman was informed about the killing of President Bangabandhu, he replied, “So what, Vice-President is there…”

Hasan Mahmud also said, In BBC interview, Colonel Farook, Rashid said that hearing the killing plan, Zia said, “Go Ahead”. That’s why Zia is not only involved in the assassination of Bangabandhu, but also in the assassination of Sheikh Russell.
