BNP leaders and activists locked into a clash with law enforcers in front of the party's Nayapaltan office in Dhaka, halting traffic movement in the area.
The clash erupted around 11:30 am on Tuesday (October 26).
Senior leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies started gathering in front of the party headquarters since 10am centring the rally announced earlier to protest the recent incidents of communal violence in different parts of the country.
The clash took place when BNP men were trying to bring out a rally, which police claimed they did not take any permission for.
At one stage, police started charging batons to bring the situation under control. In reply, BNP activists threw brick chips at the police. Police then fired tear shells and several rounds of bullets to disperse the protesting crowd from the road to resume traffic movement through the area.
