Two shot in clash, LDP secretary general arrested

Awami League and Chhatra League members clashed with the activists of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) on Chandina Degree College campus in Cumilla on Monday noon.

According to locals, Chhatra League activists chased Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Secretary General Redwan Ahmed’s car when he was going to attend a LDP rally on the college campus. At that time, the AL activists were also holding a rally at the same venue.

At that time, from inside the car, Redwan fired two bullets from his pistol, injuring two Awami League activists – Jony Ahmed, 22, and Najmul Islam Nayeem, 28.

Later, Redwan was detained following the incident.

Cumilla Additional Superintendent of Police M Tanvir said LDP General Secretary Redwan has been taken into police custody and we are investing the matter.
