BBC to shut Bangla radio broadcast

BBC is going to end Bangla radio broadcast. The authority of BBC has decided to discontinue radio broadcast in 10 languages including Bangla, Hindi, Arabic, Chinese.

In a bid to save £28.5 million annually, BBC took the decision, said a statement on Friday (September 30).

BBC started launched the Bangla radio broadcast on October 11, 1941. Initially, BBC started its Bangla service through a 15 minutes long weekly program. Later, the news broadcasting was started in 1965.
