999 Nat’l Emergency Service: Fake callers to be punished

The cabinet approved the draft of ‘National Emergency Services 999 Policy- 2020 on Monday (November 30).

According to the new policy, fake callers to national emergency service 999, will have to face punishment.

The policy was approved at a virtual cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, cabinet secretary Khandakar Anwarul Islam confirmed. 

Cabinet secretary said, National Emergency Services 999 will now be in a more organized way (well-organized). National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC), Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC)- everyone will have an instant communication system.

He said the policy states that if false, fabricated, rumored and misleading information is given, it will also be looked into. Will be termed as a punishable offense.
