First emergency medical aid from Bangladesh goes to India

The first part of the medical assistance from Bangladesh has gone to Covid-hit India.

Bangladesh on Thursday handed over 10,000 vials of Remdesivir injection to an Indian government representative.

The consignment of Remdesivir that is used for treating serious patients of COVID-19 infection was handed over by Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Kolkata Toufik Hasan at the Indian border port of Petrapole.

Secretary of Foreign Ministry (East) Mashfi Binte Shams confirmed the news.

Deputy Commissioner of Benapole Customs Mostafizur Rahman and 49 BGB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Selim Reza were also present.

Deputy Commissioner of Benapole Customs Mostafizur Rahman said Bangladesh on April 30 offered emergency medicines and medical supplies to its close neighbor India, who is battling the worsening COVID-19 infections.
