Bus, launch to provide services till Sunday noon

Strict lockdown is underway across the country to curb Coronavirus infection. But, all the export oriented industries have been opened following the direction of the government.

In this situation, the government has allowed passenger launches and buses to operate till Sunday noon for transporting the factory workers to join their workplaces.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) confirmed the matter on Saturday evening (July 31).

Mizanur Rahman, BIWTA public relations officer said, the decision was taken for the sake of easy return of factory workers.

Shajahan Khan, former shipping minister and president of Bangladesh Road Transport Workers' Federation said, a discussion took place in the cabinet to ply transports till Sunday noon. Positive response was found in this regard. However, no written direction was given.
