Suggestions to get vaccinated as Covid infection on rise

The Covid-19 infection is on the rise again as detection rate is increasing every day. The researchers say, this time BA-4 and BA-5, sub-variants of Omicron, are causing infections. Preliminary research has shown that this new variant is several times more contagious than Omicron. Despite having antibodies, people are getting infected due to this variant. However, antibodies of vaccines greatly reduce the death rate.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), around 11.96 crore people have taken the second dose as against the first dose of 12.90 crore in Bangladesh. So far, only 2.91 crore people have taken booster dose. Due to low booster doses, the risk of fresh infection rate is increasing.

Experts are blaming the sub-variants of Omicron for the fresh rise Covid infection. Infection is on the rise as vaccine efficacy declines over a period of time, they say. Experts advise people who have not yet taken the first, second or booster dose to get vaccinated quickly and follow hygiene rules. Besides, in the current context, they have suggested to test Covid-19 quickly if any symptoms like fever, cold and cough appear.
