Nipun general secretary of Film Artistes Assoc: Appellate Division

The Appellate Division has postponed a High Court order that declared actor Zayed Khan is the general secretary of Bangladesh Film Artistes Association.

The Appellate Division has also accepted the Nipun’s leave-to-appeal petition and permitted her to file an appeal petition.As per the verdict, actress Nipun has now no obstacle to become general secretary of the association, her lawyers said.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique passed the order on Monday.

The 17th edition election of the association was held on January 28. Noted actor Ilias Kanchan was elected president and Zayed Khan re-elected the general secretary.

Later, Nipun, the general secretary candidate, lodged a written complaint, asking for the cancellation of Zayed Khan.

The Appeal Board of the Election Commission to the Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association’ polls declared Nipun as uncontested general secretary after it cancelled the candidature of Zayed Khan, on the basis of allegation brought by Nipun.

Later, Zayed Khan went to the court.
