Gunman appointed for Shakib’s security

Shakib Al Hasan, an extraordinary talent and a player for all formats of cricket, has recently become ‘Talk of the Town’ on various issues since his return from the ICC embargo.

A youth issued a threat to kill him on Facebook live as he attended Kalipuja programme in West Bengal.

Considering the situation, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has increased Shakib’s security. An armed security guard has been seen with him since Wednesday (November 18) morning. On his way to Indoor, while Shakib was crossing Sher-e-Bangla in Mirpur, a security guard was following him. He was seen very much careful during Bangladeshi all-rounder’s entire practice at the outfield of Indoor.

The security guard was again seen while Shakib was walking around the field later. He was following the world’s best all-rounder in the gym and academy field like a shadow. He was also seen getting in the same car with Shakib at the end of practice.

BCB chief executive officer Nizam Uddin Chowdhury Sujan said, “As a situation has arisen, his security has been beefed up. It is obviously a matter of being worried. No such thing can ever be expected. We took immediate action after learning the matter. Those concerned have told them. For now, the BCB’s own security department has made arrangements.

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies are also keeping extra vigil around Shakib’s house.

“Shakib is a special player,” Banani Police Station OC told risingbd. He further said, “Special arrangements have been made for his security. Special surveillance is being kept around the house.”

BCB had appointed three retired army officers to protect the foreign coaches of the national team after the Holy Artisan incident. One of those three is Motaleb. He has been appointed for Shakib for the time being. He will be her constant companion for the next few days.

According to media reports, the world’s best all-rounder inaugurated Shyama Puja, the second largest festival of Hindu community, at Kankurgachhi in North Kolkata, creating huge criticism.

Meanwhile, Shakib chose social media to explain his position on these issues. On Monday (November 16) evening, he posted a video clip of 7 minutes and 53 seconds on YouTube. Shakib expressed regret and apologized repeatedly for taking part in the event in Kolkata.

On the following day, RAB arrested Mohsin Talukder, who threatened Shakib to kill, from Sunamganj. However, the country’s cricket governing body BCB has provided extra security for Shakib to avoid any untoward incident.
