Khulna wins Bangabandhu T20 Cup 2020 title

Mahmudullah Riyad’s unbeaten 70-run has propelled Gemcon Khulna to get the Bangabandhu T20 Cup 2020 title with a 5-run victory against Gazi Group Chattogram in the final.

The skipper was in gloomy tone in the whole tournament. But, his career best 70 gave Khulna a competitive 155 for 7 before he marshalled his troops and kept faith in his young bowlers to come good at the death. Hitting two over boundaries and 8 boundaries Riyadh scored 70 runs off 48 balls.

Following his proper guide, Khulna beat the highest on runs scorer Gazi Group Chattogram on Thursday at Mirpur.

Earlier, losing seven wickets Khulna had scored 155 runs and set a fighting score. In reply, Chattogram started in slow style and failed to chase the target. They managed to score 150 runs.

Chattogram’s Shykat Ali got a half century. He scored 53 runs off 45. But, the hope of win faced a stumble when Shykat was run out.

Khulna’s pacer Shohidul Islam deserve some credit as he held his nerve till the end. He picked Mosaddek (19) and Shykat on consecutive balls.
