The medical department of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is keeping Shakib Al Hasan under observation for another 48 hours due to tension in his groin.

It is known that Shakib’s groin is still swollen. However, the impression of improvement is clear. For this, he will be kept under observation for another 48 hours.

BCB assistant physician Manzoor Hossain Chowdhury said, “We have seen Shakib again today (January 26). The place is a bit swollen. He has been kept under observation for another 48 hours. He will be scanned on the morning of January 28.”

Shakib sustained injuries at his groin while catching the ball in the third ODI against West Indies. He left the field without finishing the over. After that, he did not return to the field.

Jahmar Hamilton took a run by sending the fourth ball of the fifth over of the left-arm spinner to Long On. Shakib chased the ball and pulled on his groin. One more ball to finish the over. But after the fifth ball fell to the ground. Physio Julian Calefato quickly entered the field. He observed Shakib and asked him to do one or two things to reduce the pain. But even with those, Shakib was not at ease. There was an impression of pain and discomfort in his eyes.

Then Shakib himself left the field on foot. Saumya Sarkar bowled the last ball of Shakib’s over. Shakib came to pick up the award for the best of the series. He could not walk comfortably in pain.
