Mithun, Rubel, Mustafiz among other cricketers get Covid-19 vaccine

National team cricketers are set to fly for New Zealand on Tuesday (February 23) morning to play three ODI matches and as many T20Is.

National team cricketers including coaching staff and supporting staff are taking coronavirus vaccine before flying for the series.

Tamim, Soumya and Miraz among other cricketers took vaccines on February 18. Several coaching staff also received vaccine on the day.

A group of cricketers and staff of the national cricket team including Mohammad Mithun, Saif Uddin, Mostafizur Rahman, Al-Amin and Rubel took vaccine on Saturday morning. However, two senior cricketers among five players have yet not received vaccine.

BCB Chief Executive Nizam Uddin Chowdhury told media that the government has provided us an opportunity to receive vaccine. It is urgent for everybody of us to receive the vaccine. It’s not like that you are 100% protected from the virus once you receive the vaccine. But we moved a step forward.

He further said we may be safe at one stage if we maintain health guidelines. Of the process, we passed the first phase by receiving the vaccine. Many have realized the matter. Most members of the squad set to New Zealand have received the vaccine.

The first ODI between Bangladesh and hosts New Zealand will be played at University of Otago Oval, Dunedin on March 20. 

The second ODI will be held at Hagley Oval, Christchurch on March 23 while the third will be played at Basin Reserve, Wellington on March 26. 

The three-T20 series will be played in Hamilton, Napier and Auckland respectively on March 28,30 and April 1.
