International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to grant ODI and Test status to all full-member women’s cricket teams. Following the decision, there is no bar to play Test cricket by Bangladesh women’s team.
Zimbabwe and Afghanistan have also got the same status.
Thus far, only ten teams, namely India, West Indies, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, South Africa, Netherlands, Ireland, England, Australia, and Pakistan have had the privilege of playing Test cricket.
In a press release, ICC confirmed the matter after meeting with cricket committee on Thursday (April 1).
Bangladesh women’s cricket team started the journey in 2011 when they beat the United States of America (USA) to get ODI status for the first time. In 2018, the team became champion beating India in Asia Cup in Malaysia.
