Mehidy Hasan Miraz believes that it would be better if Tigers can play in the ‘Walton Sri Lanka-Bangladesh’ series with a fighting spirit. The all-rounder said Bangladesh is not far behind Sri Lanka in any part.

He said, “We are not behind them (Sri Lanka), the way we have played on their soil for the last 3-4 years; If we have the same commitment and fight as before, then we can do better.”

Miraz made the remarks in a video message from Katunayake City of Sri Lanka on Friday (April 16) after a second day of practice. At this time, he also explained why Tigers are not behind of them.

Miraz said, “We have played good cricket every time we played in Sri Lanka before. We could not win the Nidahas Trophy just for a little while. Sri Lanka were 1-1 in ODIs in the series, they won one in Tests, we also won one.”

Since 2017, Bangladesh have played four Tests against Sri Lanka. Two were on own soil while two were in Sri Lanka. Bangladesh won a test while another made draw and two lost.

In the last 11 ODIs since 2017, Bangladesh won three, one match was canceled while another was not resulted. From the same time, Bangladesh won three of the six Twenty20 matches and lost three. Miraz said considering the performance, Bangladesh are not far behind Sri Lanka.

Miraz said, “There is challenge everywhere. Line and length are very important for spinners in Sri Lanka. The wickets are very good here. I think the first or second day it cannot work like that. But on the third-fourth day, the wicket will help the spinners. We can take that opportunity.”
