Pacer Rubel uncertain in Sri Lanka series

National team pacer Rubel Hossain is uncertain in the upcoming Sri Lanka series due to old waist injury. However, the team management will wait till the last moment for the right-handed bowler. As far as is known, the team is planning without this pacer.

Rubel did not return to the field after returning home from the New Zealand tour. He is taking rest due to an old injury on his waist. The pacer from Bagerhat is not 100% fit as the injury has not healed yet. He is not getting self-confidence. So he did not join the practice. He has been rehabilitated by the medical department of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

BCB doctor Debashish Chowdhury told risingbd on Saturday that Ruble is now in rehabilitation. His rehabilitation will continue. They will decide on him at the last minute. The day the squad will be finalized, they will inform the selectors of his condition. Then they will decide.

He added about Rubel’s injury, “He has some problems with his waist which was before as well. This is nothing new for pace bowlers. Pain off and on comes. We do notsee any problem in physical test. But Rubel is still not getting confidence. He is not confident that he will be able to give 100% as soon as he returns to the field.”

Sri Lankan cricket are coming to Bangladesh on Sunday morning to play three ODIs. The cricketers will return to practice from May 18 to host Sri Lanka. Asked if the Rubel would remain, the BCB doctor said, “We cannot say for sure. If he can improve and regain confidence, he can go to the field.”
