Tamim’s century propels Bangladesh to whitewash Zimbabwe

Bangladesh beat host Zimbabwe in the third one-day international match at Harare on Tuesday (July 20).

With three consecutive wins over Zimbabwe, the Tigers have gained full 80 super league points. Tamim Iqbal was announced the man of the match while the Tigers’ ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan won the man of the series award for his superb performance.

Majmudullah, Shakib Al Hasan and Nurul Hasan scored 30, 30 and 45 runs respectively. Their contribution propelled the Tigers to chase Zimbabwe’s 298 run target. Bangladesh reached 302-5 and won with 12 balls to spare.

Zimbabwe’s total was built around opener Regis Chakabva’s highest ODI score of 84, a calculated innings that ended on the first ball of the 35th over when he was clean bowled by seamer Taskin Ahmed.

Sikandar Raza (57) and Ryan Burl (59) rescued Zimbabwe's fragile batting in the middle order.

Bangladesh pace bowler Mohammad Saifuddin and Mustafizur Rahman took three wickets apiece.

It was Bangladesh's 50th win against Zimbabwe.
