Nazmul Hasan elected director with 53 votes

The election of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the biggest sporting body in the country, was held on Wednesday.
The voting began on BCB’s premises adjoining the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur at 10 am and continued till 5 pm.
Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hasan Papon has been elected director in category-two. He bagged 53 votes out of 57 votes.
Nazmul Hasan among the 12 directors were elected in category-two. For the first time, Nazmul Hasan has been elected directly. Earlier, he was nominated by the government and once he was elected uncontested. A total of 57 councilors from the Dhaka clubs exercised their vote to elect 12 directors.
Meanwhile, contesting from the Rajshahi Division for the first time, former Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Mashud lost by 7-2 votes to Saiful Alam Chowdhury Swapan, who was re-elected as a director.
In category-three, former Bangladesh skipper Khaled Mahmud won by 37-3 votes against former BCB game development manager and prominent coach Najmul Abedeen Fahim, who also contested for the first time.
The results, however, were announced unofficially. The newly-elected directors will exercise their voting rights to elect the new president of the board.
