After the failure of the World Cup, questions have been raised about the ability of the Bangladesh cricket team coach Russell Domingo.
There was also a discussion about his leading role in the team. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has formed a two-member probe committee to find out the reasons behind the failure in the world cup.
Already the committee made discussion with some cricketers, coaching staff.
BCB director Jalal Yunus unofficially informed the BCB chief Nazmul Hasan that there is no complaints from cricketers about the coaching of Russell Domingo.
The probe committee will make a discussion with a couple of more cricketers. After getting the full report, the future of the incumbent coach Domingo will be finalized in January.
BCB boss Nazmul Hasan Papon said, “We had formed a committee. Jalal Bhai and Siraj Bhai were in that committee. Both of them are respected and experienced as players and directors. Their report is in final or finishing stage.”
He also said, “Informally, I tried to get some information from Jalal Bhai. But, nothing was mentionable. I am not astonished. However, some important issues were found…”
Following the reasons for the renewal of the contract with Domingo, Nazmul Hasan said, “Just before the starting of the World Cup, Russell Domingo wrote us that he had received an attractive offer. He was wondering if we would renew his contract. He stated that if the contract is renewed, he will continue. If we do not renew the contract, he will not take any risks and will accept that offer."
“Later, I decided that we would not get a coach during this time period. Even if I had, I was hesitant to appoint a new coach before the World Cup. In the end, the board decided to extend his contract. We have already renewed it,”
“We have the same thought about him what it used to be. We are still waiting for the report. There is nothing to be impatient about. We will decide in January. You have to be patient this month. I will be able to give all the information after this month,” he added.
