Shakib, Tamim escape face to face fighting in 1st match

The Independence Cup, the One Day Edition of Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL), is set to kick off in Sylhet on Sunday (January 09). The four-team tournament will end through final match on January 15.

The teams are Walton Central Zone, Islami Bank East Zone, BCB North Zone and BCB South Zone.

Shakib Al Hasan, one of the best all-rounders of the world, will play for Walton Central Zone while the star opener of Bangladesh national cricket team Tamim Iqbal for Islami Bank East Zone.

On Sunday, the opening day of the tournament, Walton Central Zone will take on Islami Bank East Zone. So, the two star peers were supposed fight face to face for their respective team. But the possibility has already dismissed as Tamim has yet not joined the practice with the team.

Shakib has already practice with his team Walton Central Zone. Tamim is likely to join his team on January 10. The elegance show cannot be happened on the very first day of the tournament.

Hasibul Hossain Shanto, manager of Islami Bank East Zone, told risingbd that Tamim will not play the first match as he would join the team on January 10. He will play the rest two matches.”

All the four teams started practice on Saturday. BCB North Zone’s star cricketer Mahmudullah Riyad will also turn aside the first match like Tamim. His team coach confirmed the to risingbd. He, however, said Riyad will play from the second match.

Walton Central Zone: Abdul Mazid, Mizanur Rahman, Shakib Al Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Mohammad Mithun, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Taibur Rahman, Al Amin, Zaker Ali Anik, Abu Haidar Roni, Mrityunjay Chowdhury, Mukidul Islam Mugdha, Hassan Murad and Nazmul Islam Opu.

Islami Bank East Zone: Imrul Kayes, Arif Hossain, Irfan Shukkur, Tanvir Islam, Roni Talukder, Rubel Hossain, Nadif Chowdhury, Preetom Kumar, Nayeem Hassan, Shahadat Hossain Dipu, Rezaur Rahman Raza and Alauddin Babu.
