Covid-19 hits BPL before start

COVID-19 pandemic has hit this year’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 tournament before start.

The cricket league is scheduled to start on January 21. This time six teams are taking part in the tournament.

But six teams did not enter the biobubble. The teams are expected to enter the biobubble step by step from Tuesday (January 18).

Some cricketers and staff tested Covid-19 positive before going into biobubble. However, it is unknown who and how many players tested Covid-19 positive.

The medical department of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed this to risingbd.

The medical department said, “We have already started corona test for all concerned, including cricketers. Some of them came positive. We can't say the names and how many are affected”.

The matches will be played in Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet. This year's event will end with the final match on 18 February.
