Desk Report: At least 10 Bangladeshi expatriate workers were killed in a road accident in Saudi Arabia on Thursday.
“The accident took place when a microbus carrying 17 Bangladeshi expatriate workers fell into a roadside deep ditch as its tyres were burst out,” Bangladesh Deputy Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Md Nazrul Islam said.
Among the passengers, he said, 10 Bangladeshi nationals were killed and seven others injured. “Five received serious injuries while two minors,” he added.
The critically injured passengers were rushed to the hospital, he said.
The Bangladeshi expatriate employees, work in a catering service, were transferring to Medina from Dammam, the deputy ambassador said.
He said he has already sent mission officials to the scene from Riyadh, 200 miles away from the accident spot, to indentify the deceased and provide support to the injured.
